Ras Za’atar is a captivating dive site located on the northern tip of Ras Mohammed National Park near Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Known for its beautiful coral pinnacles and vibrant reef scenery, this site offers a diverse and colorful underwater environment. It’s well-suited for intermediate divers seeking a mix of coral gardens, reef slopes, and occasional pelagic encounters.
Ras Za’atar features coral pinnacles rising from the seabed with rich coral growth and a variety of reef fish. The dive typically follows gently sloping reef sections interspersed with sandy patches and coral formations, making it a great site for both reef exploration and spotting smaller marine creatures.
When to visit
Best Time To Dive
The optimal period to dive Ras Za’atar is from March to November, when water temperatures are warm (22°C to 29°C) and visibility is excellent. The mild currents during this time create ideal conditions for drift and reef diving. Early morning dives can offer calmer waters and better light conditions to fully appreciate the reef’s colors.
