What to expect
Located at the northern tip of Dahab Bay, the Lighthouse is one of the most accessible and beginner-friendly dive sites in the region. With its gently sloping sandy bottom, sheltered conditions, and easy shore entry, it serves as both a training ground and a rewarding site for leisurely fun dives. Over time, underwater props—like a creatively assembled elephant sculpture—have been added to enhance the underwater experience, making this site a favorite among new divers and instructors alike.
When to visit
Diving at Lighthouse is good year-round, thanks to its sheltered location. However, the best time is between April and November, when water temperatures range from 23°C to 29°C, visibility is optimal, and marine life is most active. Due to the site’s calm conditions and varied underwater features, it’s an excellent choice for both morning and night dives.
Meet the Locals
The Lighthouse dive site is teeming with life. The seagrass beds on the sandy slope are a prime spot for spotting seahorses and seamoths, often found in pairs. To the left of the entry, a vibrant reef wall leads you past large coral pinnacles bustling with marine life. Regular encounters include turtles (especially in summer), unicornfish, seabream, moray eels, Napoleon wrasse, and rays. At the far end of the site, the saddle area features a beautiful fan coral and lush coral garden. Closer to shore, keep an eye out for crocodile fish resting in the sand.
