Dive Site

Located at the northern tip of Dahab Bay, Lighthouse is one of the most accessible and beginner-friendly dive sites in the region. With its easy shore entry, sheltered conditions and gently sloping sandy bottom, it is a popular training ground as well as a rewarding site for relaxed fun dives. Beyond the shallow area, the reef develops into coral gardens, pinnacles and a reef wall, offering more to explore as you move into deeper water.

The underwater landscape changes from sandy slopes and seagrass to coral-covered pinnacles, sandy patches and deeper reef formations. Underwater props and sculptures have also been placed around the site, including the well-known elephant sculpture assembled from old metal. The combination of easy access, varied depths and abundant marine life makes Lighthouse a site that can suit both first-time divers and more experienced divers looking for an easy shore dive.

Best Time To Dive

JANFEBMARAPRMAYJUNJULAUGSEPOCTNOVDEC

Diving at Lighthouse is good year-round, thanks to its sheltered location. However, the best time is between April and November, when water temperatures range from 23°C to 29°C, visibility is optimal, and marine life is most active. Due to the site’s calm conditions and varied underwater features, it’s an excellent choice for both morning and night dives.

Meet the Locals

Wildlife

The Lighthouse dive site is teeming with life. The seagrass beds on the sandy slope are a prime spot for spotting seahorses and seamoths, often found in pairs. To the left of the entry, a vibrant reef wall leads you past large coral pinnacles bustling with marine life. Regular encounters include turtles (especially in summer), unicornfish, seabream, moray eels, Napoleon wrasse, and rays. At the far end of the site, the saddle area features a beautiful fan coral and lush coral garden. Closer to shore, keep an eye out for crocodile fish resting in the sand.
