Where we dived
Shark Observatory is a dramatic wall dive on the western edge of Ras Mohammed National Park, near Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The site is known for its sheer vertical reef wall, rich coral growth and the pelagic life passing through the open blue. The exposed position and deep drop-off give the dive a real sense of scale, while the wall itself offers plenty to explore.
The reef wall is broken by caves, ledges, inlets and large overhangs, with hard and soft corals covering much of its surface. The wall drops almost vertically into the deep blue, creating a spectacular underwater landscape. Looking away from the reef, divers can often spot schools of jacks, trevallies and barracuda moving through the open water, while the caves and overhangs provide shelter for smaller reef life.
