Where we dived
Located approximately 8 km north of Dahab’s Blue Hole, Ras Abu Galum is a remote dive site within the Ras Abu Galum Protected Area. Reached by boat or traditionally by camel from the Blue Hole, the journey is part of the experience, taking you away from Dahab’s more accessible dive sites and into a quieter stretch of the Sinai coast. Underwater, the site combines shallow coral gardens with reef walls, pinnacles and dramatic rock formations, offering a very different diving experience from the sites closer to town.
The dive typically starts on a sandy slope before opening onto a reef covered with hard and soft corals. Pinnacles and rocky formations rise from the reef, while the deeper wall drops into the blue. Keep an eye out into the open water for trevallies and jacks, while turtles, rays and abundant reef fish can be found around the reef and coral gardens.
