Where we dived
The Blue Hole is one of Dahab’s most famous dive sites and one of the most recognisable underwater features in the Red Sea. This natural sinkhole drops to around 130 metres, with sheer reef walls surrounding the deep blue water. The site can be approached through the narrow Bells chimney before following the outer reef wall towards the Blue Hole itself, with coral-covered overhangs and abundant Red Sea marine life along the way.
For recreational divers, the Blue Hole offers several ways to explore the site without entering its deepest sections. The famous Arch, however, is a very different proposition: the underwater tunnel connects the Blue Hole with the open sea at around 56 metres and is primarily associated with technical diving. The combination of the dramatic sinkhole, vertical walls and legendary Arch has made the Blue Hole an important destination for both recreational and technical divers.
