ABOUT US - Who is behind HUP?

Meet me, Juraj Hrabovsky – Diver, Explorer, Marine Advocate

I’m just an ordinary person—like you—with an extraordinary passion for all things ocean. Born in a landlocked country, my first encounter with the sea was during a family vacation in what was then Yugoslavia (yes, I’m that old now 🙂). Ever since the scent of the sea first hit me, and I took my very first look underwater, I was hooked for life.

A Journey Under Pressure

There’s something deeply satisfying about watching people return from a dive with wide eyes and big smiles—the joy of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. That’s when I realized how important it is to make every dive count. Sometimes, it’s someone’s only chance to connect with the ocean—and maybe start caring about it.

Above Water, Many Hats

Life has its twists and turns. I wasn’t lucky enough to study marine sciences, but what I know, I’ve learned through passion, curiosity, and self-study.

Professionally, I’ve worn many hats: service technician, electrical engineer, worked in quality field. But through it all, the ocean has always held the highest place in my heart. All those diverse experiences gave me new perspectives. Nothing we learn in life goes to waste—it all adds up, somehow.

It Started With a Dream

As a kid, I would watch ocean documentaries in awe—scuba divers gliding through vibrant reefs, surrounded by marine life. I remember thinking: Maybe one day I could do that too…

From Inspiration to Action

Years later, I had the chance to visit Fiji. After a casual snorkeling session, I struck up a conversation with an American couple in their 60s. They had just returned from a dive. That short chat became a turning point—it sparked something in me. It set me on the path to becoming a scuba diver.

Why I Started Happy Under Pressure

That’s why I started Happy Under Pressure: To bring the ocean closer to people. To help others fall in love with its beauty, understand its fragility, and learn how—and why—we must protect it.

I invite you to join me on this mission. Hop on. Let’s go explore together.
